Back again...

Wow it's been forever since I posted o.k. here's what I've been up to.  This is page one and two of the pencils of my new 8 page strip called "5 minutes more". It's an homage to all those Mystery in Space/Strange Adventures comics of the 1950's and 60's

Sunday clean up

Hey all,

I spent the rest of the weekend doing laundry and cleaning up the apartment. had a great saturday afternoon back issue comic dumpster dive at a local used bookstore.  I also picked up the first Star Wars movie on DVD. Emily's 6 and a half and it's about time she saw it. I think we'll watch it on Halloween along with 'Mad Monster Party".

Trauma Team666 rehearsed on Friday night and reconnected with an old friend Moxie who came back up from Florida.  we're a little rusty but we'll get it together. We might get booked to play on Monday November 3rd in Brooklyn.  So we've got 10/26 (possibly) 11/03 and 12/05.

Superman of color

Well not really but actually that's not a bad idea. This is something I penciled inked and colored yesterday for my friend Bill's Birthday.

I did a Superman?

Wow I never draw Superman.  He looks  like the 1950's Wayne Boring style.

one more

Kid Flash

I'm back!!!

Wow. it's been the better part of a month since I last posted. lots of new stuff to tell.
I passed my Level 2 Krav Maga test last Sunday. So I'm a full fledged instructor now. The class I'm teaching on Sunday mornings is doing really well. It was a hard and fun six months getting ready for this test so I'm in celebration mode until tomorrow.

I went to the Baltimore Comic con on Saturday we made great time getting down there with the exception of getting lost in Jersey( I hate Jersey!).  Got some great books and sketches but man what a crowded show. Did some cool work today and finished inking the story I've been working on.

Here are some drawings from today, Wonder Woman Saturn Girl and Stargirl. I'm inspired by what I saw at the convention and trying to do random sketches. just pulling characters out of the air I did some male characters today but they kind of sucked really think I nailed the Satrgirl.

Works in Progress

Hey all,
Last night was a good night for catching up on some inking. I put Emily to bed around 8 and worked on these two pages. I'm trying to use a brush as much as possible.

Flashback Fridays

Hi all,

Wanted to post something older today for a few reasons a) I left my sketchbook home yesterday and didn't draw anything and b) I haven't cleaned up the drawings I did on Wednesday. Hope you all enjoy this pic from early in the year. Check out the Illustration Friday website for my upload of the "Memories" illustration.

Ascap...no..Kickback

There's a possibility that our next Trauma Team show in October will be shown on cable TV. In anticipation of this we're getting our legal mumbo-jumbo in order. Monday I registered as a writer with ASCAP...this way I can get royalties and shit when my genius is discovered and Trauma Team666 plays "I fucked your Boyfriend " on Conan.  Wow all that for only a 25.00 registration fee.
Anyway here's a sketch of a possible book cover sample that I'm going to do. It's a throwback to some of the old school "Men's adventure Books" from the 60's and 70's.

Color!

Hey,
Amy loved my Illustration that I did last night and asked if she could color it.  I said sure I had an Idea for minimal color which I'm posting below as well as her version.

Sunday Sunday Sunday!

Got up real early cause Amy and I were taking advantage of there being no Krav Maga today to go into the city. We decide to take in a drawing class over at The Spring Street Studio. While I wasn't really happy with my work I did manage to put together this piece.

Illustration Friday.

Hey all,

So yesterday I was asked to help warm up the Level Two class at Krav Maga. I did about 25 minutes and got some good feedback about the drills I ran. Did a bunch of errands like the bank, post office, art store and supermarket. Took a nice nap and worked on this piece. It's for the Illustration Friday website.  Every Friday they post a theme that you can do an Illustration based on. This weeks theme was "Memories".

New Post!

Hey where have I been all weekend? Fell off the wagon and didn't get to draw anything on Saturday. Ran around with Emily and saw The Clone Wars, not bad. Still Star Wars has lost some of it's magic for me in their attempt to be all things to all people. Here are some pics from Sunday, had a great day with Emily and Amy went to my Niece's Birthday party and took an early morning Level 2 class.

My First Time!

I was asked to teach my first Krav Maga Level One class yesterday.  I had about 15 minutes to prepare and was very nervous. Chief Instructor Michael Blitz gave me some great feedback and was really pleased.  It's so different going from student to instructor I think it's like when they say Pro football is so much faster of a game that college football.

I'm glad it went well and that I was able to come thru. My only motivation for becoming an instructor was to help the school.  Can't wait to do it again.

Marionette Sketch

I did this one Wednesday. It kind of reminds me of a character called Marionette from The Micronauts series.

Sketchbook

so I picked up a new sketchbook on wednesday The idea is to draw something every day even if it's doodles at lunchtime in the car. So here are the first few days samples of crap. enjoy.

New TraumaTeam666 Logo!

Hey here's the New TraumaTeam666 logo. that I came up with. Thanks to Josh Lowy for tech support on this one. I can barely spell it as it is.

YES!

Ok so yesterday I got an email saying I had passed my Phase A Krav Maga training. This means that I can start teaching Level one classes after I pass my Orange belt test next month. I'm super happy about this and celebrated by going to dinner with Emily and then over to class. Took what I believe to be an overhand right to my left eye which didn't hurt but gave me a bruise.  No biggie except now all day the fat filp-flopped masses will be asking "what happened to your eye?"

Got a Birthday party tonight so no training...off to the gym now.

Back to work.

Alright..went back to Krav Maga for a level 2 class this morning.  Did a bunch of stuff this morning like stopping at the comic store and grabbing a few books that I missed. Great new Nocturnals book by Dan Brereton, Glamourpuss by Dave Sim and The Goon by Eric Powell.
Grabbed a copy of JSA Annual #1 by Jerry Ordway. He's got a great Bronze age drawing style that I've enjoyed since All-Star Squadron. Here's my take on PowerGirl.

Looking forward to the Baltimore Comic Con in Sept. It's the day before my Krav level 2 test.

Not looking forward to work tomorrow.

Tropic Thunder!

It's my recovery day after my Krav Maga Phase A training this past week. A bit sore so I skipped the gym and went to see Tropic Thunder. Wow what a fun movie. Tons of people will be offended it was like Blazzing Saddles set in Vietnam. Robert Downey Jr. was great and Ben Stiller's writing was way beyond his last few films. Stopped at Pearl for some supplies which prompted creating this blog. Will post a drawing tonight.
